Neighbours on Kidmore End Road in Emmer Green want a bus shelter at the southbound stop near Chalgrove Way.
Kidmore End Road is a main north-south route surrounded by homes and gives access to Emmer Green Recreation Ground and the White Horse and Black Horse pubs by Peppard Road.
Further up the road, construction is under way on the 223-home Emmer Green Drive development on Reading Golf Course.
At the moment passengers stand by a post showing timetables for Reading Buses Berry 24 and route 80. A shelter would protect people from the weather.
The petition has 22 signatures and will be considered by Reading Borough Council's traffic management sub-committee on Wednesday, June 10.
The northbound stop has a bench but no shelter.
A report by James Clements and James Turner recommends adding the request to a prioritised list of bus shelter proposals. The report estimates the cost at £15,000.
