Church Lane Closed Amidst Flytipping Scandal

Church Lane is closed for days after flytipping was found on the lane linking Shinfield and Three Mile Cross.

The road passes homes and The Six Bells pub before meeting Basingstoke Road in Three Mile Cross.

A stretch between Shinfield and The Six Bells is shut after photographer Paul King's pictures showed wooden panels and cardboard dumped in the lane. A truck with picker machinery has been used to remove the waste near the pub.

The description of the work on the Causeway One Network website states: "Works are currently taking place on this road following an inspection or customer report.

"This could include repairing a pothole or replacing damaged signs."

The closure began at 5.30am on Thursday, July 23, and the permit runs until 4pm on Tuesday, July 28.

The stretch of Church Lane west of The Six Bells remains open, and internal Shinfield traffic is being diverted via Church Lane, Hollow Lane and Brookers Hill.

Wokingham Borough Council has been contacted for more information.
