Crumbs café's success in Woodley has brought extra cash to the town council.
Crumbs began in 2019 with its main café at Library Parade and won the contract to run the Oakwood Centre café in September 2024. The council benefits through a lease agreement.
According to the 2025/26 finance report, the council earned £10,700 from the arrangement, beating a target of £6,684.
Shedding light on his winning formula, Jamie Bowley, the founder of the business, said: "As our reputation spread in Woodley, this was noticed by the council.
"As luck would have it, around the same time, I approached them to try to open a mobile hut or some form of shop in the Woodford Park area of the council property.
"This didn't work out; however, they told us that Brown Bag (the operators at the time) had handed in their notice, and they invited us to tender.
"They were especially keen on having someone who is local and proactive within the local community, something that we have always been."
Crumbs expanded into more space to create a cocktail bar in May last year and runs events such as monthly charity bingo nights and an annual Santa's Grotto.
Their performance at the Oakwood Centre was featured in a council finance report discussed at the strategy & resources committee meeting on April 21.
