Plans for a cricket pitch, new homes and changes at a popular pub are among the latest planning applications and decisions across Bracknell Forest and Wokingham.
Sports pitch near Binfield
Plans have been submitted to create a cricket pitch at Oak Tree Farm, Twyford Road, Binfield. Works would include resurfacing, bunds, raising ground levels, drainage and car parking. The application describes the proposals as "part retrospective". Bracknell Forest Council has been asked for its observations. The application was validated on 28 October under reference PA/2026/1011.
New Barkham home approved despite "lost opportunity" criticism
Wokingham Borough Council has approved replacing a house on Barkham Street with a new dwelling and parking, despite an officer calling the design a "lost opportunity". The site sits in the Barkham Church and Manor Area of Special Character. The council's tree and landscape officer raised no objection but said the proposal would make a "neutral contribution" to the area and "seems a lost opportunity given other nearby exceptionally renovated, converted, or conserved dwellings".
Most of the replacement house would be hidden from Barkham Street by substantial trees and hedging. A notable oak nearby was considered earlier this year but was not given a Tree Preservation Order. The application, 261897, was approved on 30 October.
Farm building could become two homes
An agricultural building at Malt Hill Farm could be converted into two homes. The proposals include replacement external cladding and some demolition to allow the change of use. The application was validated by Bracknell Forest Council on 28 October and is awaiting a decision under reference PA/2026/1008.
Binfield pub seeks permission to keep new equipment
The Jack O'Newbury in Terrace Road North has applied to retain air-conditioning units, air-source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points that have already been installed. The application was validated on 23 October and is awaiting a decision from Bracknell Forest Council under reference PA/2026/0742.
