New Food Business Set to Replace Vape Shop

A closed vape shop in Caversham is set to become a new food business called 'Casa 35'.

Berkshire Vapers first opened on Prospect Street in autumn 2013, grew to other sites and closed the original Caversham store in November last year.

Little is known about Casa 35 so far. The word 'casa' means 'home' in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Prospect Street is Caversham's main shopping street and already hosts La Bella Cafe, a herb shop, a dental practice, dress shops, Mini Mo'z Kebabs and the Bina Tandoori Indian and Bengali restaurant.

The owners have applied to Reading Borough Council to supply alcohol from 8am to 9pm every day. The application is with the council's licensing department and a statutory consultation has begun.

You can take part by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses closes on November 24.

The unit was advertised for a business rent of A31333 per month and no planning application for advertising consent or other changes has been submitted yet.

The building has a ground-floor shop entrance plus a separate entrance for five flats - one at the rear of the ground floor and four on the upper floors. Berkshire Vapers still operates stores at the Three Tuns junction in Earley and at 437 Reading Road in Winnersh.
