Free Bus Travel for Kids This August!

Children aged five to 15 can travel free on participating local bus services in West Berkshire throughout August under the Government's Great British Summer Savings scheme.

Operators taking part include Newbury and District, Reading Buses, Thames Travel and Stagecoach.

Stuart Gourley (Lib Dem, Newbury Clay Hill), executive member for environment and highways, said: "We know the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families, so we're pleased that children and young people can travel for free on participating local bus services throughout August.

Families should check individual operator policies regarding children travelling unaccompanied. No registration or pass is required, although eligible children and young people will be issued with a ticket when they travel. Age verification checks may be carried out when boarding.

West Berkshire Council's Bus Services for Days Out in West Berkshire page has information on where residents could go.

The scheme is funded by the Department for Transport as part of the Great British Summer Savings scheme and the fares offer is being funded by HM Government.
