Fresh plans have landed in Reading's planning office - including a new bid for luxury homes on Bath Road after a near-identical scheme was rejected.
Fresh plan for luxury homes (PL/26/0582)
A landowner wants to replace a bungalow off Bath Road with five luxury family homes. The existing bungalow sits at the end of a long driveway beside the Beech House Hotel, which could be turned into a nursery. The council rejected the earlier project and an appeal was dismissed by the planning inspectorate earlier this year. Sketches from the previous application showed Porsche, Lamborghini and Range Rover cars in the driveways, hinting at the type of occupiers targeted.
Change to care home plan (PL/26/0299)
Northcourt Lodge has applied to tweak a new two-storey building it won permission for in 2022. The approved scheme included 13 double bedrooms, each with a wet room; the latest change would rearrange seven parking spaces on site.
Shops and flats next to closed pub (PL/26/0145 and PL/26/0172)
Plans are progressing to create three shops and three flats at the building next to The Royal Albion on Oxford Road. The building currently houses the Lux Lounge and a flat. The conversion was approved in June 2023 and details on construction, materials and BREEAM compliance have now been signed off.
House split back into two homes approved (PL/26/0370)
A terraced house on New Road in the Redlands Conservation Area has been given permission to be turned back into two three-bedroom homes. The property was originally two homes before being converted into one.
