Labour Calls for Suspension Over Conference Incident

Bracknell Labour chair Bob Miller has written to Reform UK demanding local officials be suspended if they are found to have been involved in an incident at the party's national conference.

Earlier this month viral footage showed a confrontation between a female heckler and attendees at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham after protesters interrupted a speech by Mr Farage. Clips appeared to show audience members confronting a female protester as she was removed.

Media reports identified Malcolm Tullett, chairman of Reform UK Bracknell, and Justin Bellhouse, the party's deputy chairman and a member of Bracknell Town Council, as appearing in the footage. West Midlands Police said one man had been given a conditional caution after a voluntary interview; two other men have also been voluntarily interviewed and enquiries remain ongoing. The force has not publicly identified any of those interviewed or cautioned.

He wrote: "If Mr Tullett and Cllr Bellhouse are among them, the honourable thing as party leader and party chairman would be to suspend their party membership pending the conclusion of the police's investigation."

He added: "Violence does not belong in the political process, and you must take a stand. Silence is condoning it."

Not everyone agreed with Labour's approach. Bracknell resident Colin Wright replied on social media, saying there was already a "perfectly competent organisation" investigating the incident in West Midlands Police and that any disciplinary issues should be dealt with by Reform UK.

Mr Tullet and Reform UK were contacted for comment.

Mr Tullett is a former Conservative councillor who joined Reform UK and stood as the party's parliamentary candidate in Bracknell at the 2024 General Election. Cllr Bellhouse was elected to Bracknell Town Council for Harmans Water in a by-election in June 2025.
