Lorry Drivers Fined for Weight Limit Breaches

Two lorry drivers were fined after being caught carrying loads above the 7.5-tonne limit on Church Road in Aldermaston in January.

Routine inspections across West Berkshire, Wokingham and Bracknell Forest found the offences. The cases were judged by a single magistrate advised by a professional lawyer on paper; no prosecutor or defendant attended.

One driver, with an 18-tonne load, pleaded guilty and was fined £200, ordered to pay £180 prosecution costs and an £80 victim surcharge. The other, with a 23.4-tonne load, received a £65 fine, £180 costs and a £26 victim surcharge.

The prosecutions were brought by the Public Protection Partnership.
