A new four-storey self-storage warehouse in Bracknell is nearly finished on the corner of Western Road and Wokingham Road, replacing the old RSA House offices.
RSA, an American cybersecurity company, came to Bracknell circa 2000 and departed the town roughly 20 years later. The building was sold to the Angle Opportunity Fund for £3.2 million in August 2022 and was demolished to make way for the new warehouse.
Drone pilot Styles Views from Binfield has tracked the site since demolition began in December last year. September shots showed the facade still needing infill; the latest photos show the Western Road face mostly complete and solar panels on the roof.
The site sits alongside existing units on the Western Road industrial estate and Wokingham Road, one of the main east-west routes between the town centre, Popeswood and Binfield.
Mitchell Design and Construction Ltd began work in March. The project is set for completion on Friday, November 27, with the fit-out to be done by Shurgard afterwards.
Construction Map lists Shurgard as the client, which will make internal adjustments to install its range of five hireable storage units for customers.
Shurgard serves both individual clients and businesses by providing a secure place to store valuables and goods. The Shurgard website states: "At certain moments in life, you might need a temporary storage solution.
"If you are moving to a new house, having a temporary storage unit will make the move less stressful.
"If you are renovating, a temporary storage unit will keep your belongings safe and out of the way so that things get done faster.
"If you are a student, renting a storage unit for the summer months means you don't have to move your belongings home and back again.
"If you are an online seller, an extra storage unit during peak season could help your business grow."
The nearest Shurgard is currently in Molly Millars Lane, Wokingham, about 15 minutes by car from Bracknell town centre. Plans for the demolition and new building were approved by Bracknell Forest Council in October 2023 (reference 24/00045/FUL).
