Road Closures Ahead: October Works in Woodley

Drivers in Woodley and Earley should expect road closures and temporary traffic lights across October as utility companies and the council carry out work.

One of the longest restrictions starts Monday, October 12, when Warren Road in Woodley closes for Network Rail. The closure will allow access for cutting stabilisation works and space for equipment, staff facilities and the removal of excavated material and vegetation; it is scheduled to remain closed beyond October.

Fosters Lane will shut from Monday, October 19, until Wednesday, October 21, while BT digs to install 60 metres of telecoms duct. Duffield Road is due to close for a traffic signal upgrade from Saturday, October 24, until Friday, November 6.

Temporary multi-way lights will be in place on Coppice Road and Loddon Bridge Road from October 24 until November 1 while Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks excavate to reinforce cables for new connections.

Smaller works earlier in the month include two-way lights for carriageway patching on Comet Way on October 8 and 9, and telecoms work on Tennyson Road, Campbell Road and footpaths near Sunderland Close and Catalina Close from October 12 to 14.

In Earley, multi-way lights are planned on Station Road from October 14 to 16 while Thames Water replaces a sluice box. Culver Lane remains closed for an improved pedestrian and cycle route until Friday, November 6.

Other restrictions include multi-way lights for drainage investigations on Beech Lane until October 9, and electricity work on footpaths around Gipsy Lane, Felixstowe Close, Southwold Close, Saltersgate and Mildenhall Close until October 20, with no carriageway incursion planned. Dates and arrangements may be changed by the organisations doing the work.
