Council bosses have apologised after temporary traffic lights caused confusion on Mole Road when no work was visible.
The signals were installed ahead of planned repairs, but Wokingham Borough Council Traffic & Travel said the repairs did not go ahead as scheduled because of a "breakdown in communication between the teams involved" and difficulties obtaining materials from a tarmac plant.
The reinstatement team was due to return today, Wednesday, October 7, with the repair expected to be completed by the end of the day. Temporary traffic lights will remain in place while the newly laid road surface cures and until it is safe to remove the traffic management.
A council spokesperson said there may be periods when no workers are visible, but warned that work would still be ongoing. The authority apologised for the disruption and thanked residents and motorists for their patience.
The repair was needed because a failed section could deteriorate quickly and Mole Road is carrying more traffic than usual during the closure of Barkham Road. Carrying out the repairs now would help prevent further damage and reduce the risk of damage to vehicles.
