Tesla is set to move into a new Reading facility near Reading International Business Park, at the recently completed Reading Logistics Park.
A planning application to Reading Borough Council says the company could take a unit as a servicing area and a small showroom. The ELG Planning document says the site would be used as a car servicing centre and bodyshop, a vehicle delivery 'hub', and an ancillary car showroom. You can view the application using reference PL/26/0443 on the council's planning portal.
The showroom would mainly be for visiting Tesla customers to view new models while using the service centre.
The first Tesla dealership in Reading opened on Basingstoke Road on a site previously occupied by a Peugeot dealer.
Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, rose to prominence after the Model S launched in the US in 2012 and in the UK in 2014, and Elon Musk became CEO in 2008. Mr Musk is a controversial figure - praised for green tech but divisive after buying Twitter in 2022 and endorsing Donald Trump in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Tesla has been contacted for more information.
