The Lyndhurst Pub Reopens with New Management!

The Lyndhurst in Watlington Street, Reading, has reopened under new management. It reopened on Tuesday, August 25 after around two months of closure following the departure of the previous landlord.

Stephen Williams has taken over the running of the pub under an agreement with Stonegate.

The beer lineup has largely been retained and the team are serving Brett's Burgers, steak, fish and chips and sides.

"It's absolutely wonderful to actually see all these young people and locals."

"We need the 10 per cent VAT relief desperately."

Mr Williams urged locals to back community events such as quiz nights to help keep the pub alive.

The Lyndhurst sits in an area known as 'The Village', alongside The Retreat in St John's Street and Sip 'n' Spin in Eldon Terrace.

This is the fourth change of landlord since Dishon Vas and Sheldon Fernandez left in May 2024; they had built a reputation for turning the pub into a highly rated gastropub.

Mr Williams also runs The Fox Inn at Boars Hill, The Plough in Witney, The Chequers in Weston-on-the-Green and The Talkhouse in Stanton St John, all in Oxfordshire. He is also taking over the New Inn in Witney and The Thirsty Bear near The Lyndhurst through agreements with Star Pubs.
