West Berkshire is top in the South East for care-home performance. Its Berkshire neighbour Slough is the worst.
The findings come from a new report by online training provider High Speed Training that analysed Care Quality Commission data for more than 13,500 care homes across England. Regionwide, 82.19 per cent were rated good or outstanding.
West Berkshire had 90.24 per cent rated good or outstanding, with 9.76 per cent judged inadequate or requiring improvement. West Berkshire Council directly manages three care homes for older people; one, Birchwood, has a CQC rating showing it needs to make improvements.
Windsor and Maidenhead had the highest percentage of outstanding care homes. Medway had the highest percentage of inadequate care homes, at 8.06 per cent.
