Benugo, the chain behind cafes at the British Museum, Natural History Museum and St Pauls Cathedral, is coming to Reading.
It will open in The Place to Eat at John Lewis on Broad Street; the Ori Cafe elsewhere in the store will not change.
Benugo will operate during John Lewis trading hours: 10am05.30pm weekdays, closing at 6.30pm on Saturdays and 11am04.30pm on Sundays.
It has submitted a licensing application to Reading Borough Council to sell alcohol from 8am to 11pm each day.
John Lewis said the extended hours provide the option of staying open later for customer events, which is already permitted under the existing licence.
A statutory consultation is live. You can respond by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk; the deadline is Wednesday, April 29.
Benugo is headquartered at Thames Valley Park in Earley, already runs eateries at 10 John Lewis stores and has a deal to transform 32 in-store restaurants.
