Wokingham Council Welcomes New Councillor Cohort

New councillors have taken their seats at Wokingham Borough Council after the elections, bringing fresh energy, mixed experience and different priorities to the chamber.

Mohima Bose (Liberal Democrat)
A primary school teacher for Barkham and Arborfield, Bose is pushing sustainability and backing solar farms to tackle rising energy costs and environmental pressures. She said: "We need to preserve natural resources... we're all in it together."

Leon Cook (Conservative)
Elected in Thames ward, Cook has a background in communications and has been a regular at council meetings. He has warned about the strain national policy puts on local planning. He said: "The trouble we have... is national housing targets."

Chris Johnson (Liberal Democrat)
Returning for Spencer's Wood and Swallowfield, Johnson brings council experience, an engineering career and RAF service, plus roles on scrutiny committees and hands-on work during the Falklands conflict. He said: "You're going to put a load of equipment on board."

David Bragg (Conservative)
Also from Thames ward, Bragg has long ties to Woodley, served as mayor and works in finance. He stresses his personal investment in the area. He said: "I'm passionate about what happens here."

Roberta Brooks (Liberal Democrat)
Representing Wokingham Without, Brooks grew up in Rio de Janeiro and has already built a reputation for diligence and community focus. She said: "You can visit the Christ the Redeemer statue by tram, by foot or by cycle."

Richa Singh (Liberal Democrat)
Elected in Evendons, Singh was welcomed by council leader Stephen Conway. He said: "Richa is an excellent addition to the Lib Dem group. We will benefit from her background in education and business."

Together, the new intake mixes continuity and change as Wokingham Borough Council starts its next chapter with fresh voices and experienced hands.
