Woodley Town Council has approved nine Community Grants to support local services across Woodley and the surrounding area.
Recipients include Berkshire MS Therapy Centre (therapy sessions at its Reading centre); Berkshire Vision (telephone befriending and social club services); Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley (a four-day programme on health, wellbeing and drug prevention at South Lake Primary School); and Together One Step at a Time CIC (inclusive sensory summer sessions).
Other grants fund Woodley Bowling Club (repairs to clubhouse security shutters); Woodley C of E Primary School (an outdoor garden learning space for pupils and the wider community); Woodley Festival of Music and Arts (venue hire, professional fees, publicity and equipment); Woodley Volunteer Centre (a replacement office computer system); and Woodley Showstoppers (hall hire, costumes, licensing, technical support and running costs).
The awards were approved at the strategy and resources committee meeting on 21 April.
Councillor Keith Baker (Conservative, Coronation East), chairman of the strategy and resources committee, said: "These grants are more important than ever as many individuals and families in our community are feeling the impact of rising living costs.
"Local organisations like these provide vital support, connection, and opportunities that make a real difference to people's lives.
"By continuing to invest in them, we are proud to help support these services and strengthen our community and the support networks people depend on."
