Exciting New Street Art Mural for Reading!

Street art is coming to a wall at the junction of Station Road and Garrard Street in Reading town centre, a route used by thousands heading to and from the station.

A new mural (PL/26/0351) will cover about 15 metres of wall with a mix of cultural and artistic pieces plus sponsored advertising. The Station Road Development Company applied for the work and planning officer Jonathan Markwell found it compliant with council policies. There is already a mural in Station Road advertising visit-reading.com.

Offices in Cross Street are being converted into three one-bed flats above Omeera beauty salon (PL/26/0499 and PL/26/0498). The owner applied for the conversion not to have to comply with BREEAM standards and for approval of the bin-management details; both were approved by the council on 8 June.

Leander Service Station next to the Traveller's Rest in Caversham has applied to replace paper adverts with a digital screen (PL/26/0696). The Henley Road forecourt sells BP fuel and has a Londis; plans would replace two existing boards and an oversized Costa Coffee cup with a 2,400 mm by 1,230 mm digital screen.

Leighton Park School on Shinfield Road is progressing plans for an entrance lodge inside its main gates (PL/26/0694). Permission was granted in April and the council recently approved the materials. A CGI shows the lodge in white render with timber-effect cladding.
