Lidl has launched a consultation and says it will submit a planning application within six weeks for the former Odeon cinema site in Bracknell town centre on Skimped Hill Lane.
The proposal, on the footprint of the Odeon, Hollywood Bowl and Pizza Hut, would create 40 jobs.
Cllr Paul Bidwell (Labour), spokesperson for Economy and Regeneration on Bracknell Forest Council, said: "Lidl coming to Bracknell is hugely welcome news, giving residents even more shopping choices. Bracknell is a great place to do business and, with some of the highest shopping footfall in the region, it's a no brainer that Lidl wants to get in on the action. I look forward to welcoming them to our thriving town."
Lidl says staff would be paid a minimum of £13.45 per hour, rising to £14.45 with length of service, and the store would have two electric vehicle charging bays.
The supermarket hopes to submit a planning application in June or July, with a decision later this year and a possible opening in 2027 or 2028.
