Earley has a new mayor, Councillor Alistair Neal (Liberal Democrats, St Nicolas), appointed at last month's annual meeting. He's prioritising cycling, the environment and youth services while supporting local groups.
He said: "I'd like to thank my fellow councillors for electing me as Mayor of Earley.
"It is both an honour and a responsibility. It is an opportunity to serve the residents, support local organisations, and help bring people together to make Earley an even better place to live.
"As Mayor, I want to champion an Earley where people of all ages can thrive. My focus will be on encouraging active travel through walking and cycling, supporting environmental sustainability, and promoting opportunities for young people.
"These priorities are connected: greener neighbourhoods, safer streets, and strong youth services help create a healthier, more vibrant community for everyone.
"For my charity, I have chosen to support the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. This is a vital part of the emergency services. A service that none of us would hope to use, but reassuring to know that it is there. Within minutes, they bring the expertise, equipment and treatment of the hospital to the most critically ill and injured patients across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire."
Cllr Andrew Long (Liberal Democrats, Cutbush) will serve as deputy mayor. The mayor chairs council meetings and acts as the town's official figurehead.
Invite the mayor to events via the town council on 0118 986 8995 or email administration@earley-tc.gov.uk.
