Sign Up Now for West Berkshire's Garden Waste!

West Berkshire residents can now sign up for garden waste collections.

The subscription runs until September 2027. New users, and anyone who pays by debit or credit card, should sign up soon to start or keep collections. If you pay by Direct Debit you don't need to do anything - subscriptions renew automatically and confirmation will have been sent by email. To avoid duplicate payments, Direct Debit customers are asked not to sign up again.

The service recycles grass cuttings, hedge trimmings and other green waste from home. Crews use in-cab technology to identify subscribed properties, so bin stickers aren't required.

Last year more than 32,000 households took part, helping to recycle over 11,000 tonnes of garden waste.

The material is processed into high-quality soil conditioner at the composting facility in Padworth, operated by Veolia. Residents can collect the soil conditioner free of charge twice a year; details of the next giveaway are expected this autumn.

Stuart Gourley (Lib Dem, Newbury Clay Haill), executive member for environment and highways at West Berkshire Council, said: "Our garden waste service makes it easy for residents to recycle from home while contributing to a greener West Berkshire.

"Last year's strong participation shows how much residents value the service, with over 11,000 tonnes of garden waste recycled into a useful product for our local environment.

"We want to build on that success and encourage even more households to sign up this year."
