Land used by Tadley Sunday Market is being earmarked for construction-site training after an application seeking retrospective planning permission was submitted to West Berkshire Council.
The area is at Barlows Plantation, immediately west of John Stacey's Fishing Lake off Silchester Road, in the northwest corner of the car park. The Stacey Waste Transfer and Recycling Station is just to the north.
The application covers part of the market car parking area for workplace and site training in the use of vehicles and lifting and handling equipment. The central open area is where tuition is given and vehicles and equipment are manoeuvred.
It will be used Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, with occasional Saturdays. Between five and 40 candidates would attend at any one time.
The retrospective development is said to support an existing business in the area by giving it room to train students in the use of vehicles and equipment in a limited area.
