An L-shaped strip of land off Reading Road in Woodley, owned by Reading Borough Council, is up for sale.
It sits behind terraced homes in Howth Drive and Wheble Drive and is currently unused.
Reading Council has begun a marketing process open to third-sector voluntary organisations and private bidders; an advert has appeared on the Reading Voluntary Action website.
The site is being marketed by AH Lansley on its website and Rightmove. Interested parties can contact the estate agents for viewings.
A spokesperson for Reading Borough Council said:
"This is an unused piece of land which is surplus to requirements and sits within Reading Council's housing estate at Reading Road, which is located in Wokingham Borough."
"The land is being marketed for sale through appointed agents and also in accordance with the Council's Third Sector Policy to allow the community, charity and voluntary sector an opportunity to bid."
"Offers are also being invited on the open market as a parallel process."
"Any final suitable use will ultimately be determined by Wokingham Borough Council as the relevant planning authority."
The deadline for expressions of interest closes at 12pm on Monday, October 12.
