A post office is set to return to Woodley after being closed for about 13 weeks. The Morrisons Daily and Post Office on Crockhamwell Road shut on Wednesday, 19 August.
Asra PO LTD is preparing to take over the unit and reopen it as a convenience store with post office services. It has applied to Wokingham Borough Council to sell alcohol from 6am to 11pm daily.
Councillor Keith Baker (Conservative, Coronation East) said: "In essence, this is offering exactly the same services and products for sale as the old store, including the provision of a Post Office."
"The town council has been asked to comment at their planning & community meeting on Thursday, November 17."
A statutory consultation is currently live. Residents can comment by emailing licensing@wokingham.gov.uk and referencing proposal PR0576. The deadline is Tuesday, November 24.
The Crockhamwell Road closure followed Morrisons closing 100 loss-making stores from its 2022 acquisition of McColl's, many of which had integrated post offices.
Other post office branches in Woodley are Wheelers Green Post Office in Coppice Road and Brecon Road Post Office at The Parade.
