Roadworks at the busy roundabout where Basingstoke Road meets Whitley Wood Lane and Imperial Way in Reading are causing long queues.
Thames Water contractors have put in three-way traffic lights while they carry out repairs, slowing traffic and making it harder to get into the Lidl on Basingstoke Road and to and from Junction 11 of the M4.
The work began at 8am on Wednesday 22 July and is due to finish at 5pm on Wednesday 29 July. A part of the roundabout opposite the Deep Blue fish and chip shop is closed, so drivers heading southbound from Basingstoke Road have to go the wrong way around the roundabout.
Queues were seen in Basingstoke Road, Whitley Wood Lane and Imperial Way during the morning rush on Thursday 23 July, while crews drilled into the pavement to access the underground water network.
There are also traffic lights in Basingstoke Road near Manor Farm Road.
Separately, the permit for the Bennet Road and A33 junction closure has been extended until Thursday 10 September.
